Issue with digital USB audio to dac with front computer ports?

HI,

Short version, plugging a USB Schiit modi (DAC) in one of the front USB ports of the computer results in some sort of intermittent noises; like the noise can cut for a fraction of a second, and when it comes back it does a small 'thud' like you just plugged a device... Every couple of seconds.What confuses me is that USB sending digital should be the same front vs motherboard USB port? External drives, USB keys, all seem to copy correctly, I even think one of the front ports is usb 3.0, it's an MSI Z77a-G43 motherboard. The annoying thing is that Win10 sucks & shuts down the modi and it has to be unplugged & replugged for it to become available, which is a pain in the rear ports (pun not intended)... Linked fixes didn't fix the issue.

Please help.
